nine3

I offered my friend a penny
He said he didn’t need my help

I offered my friend a nickel
He said he didn’t need my help

I offered my friend a quarter
He said he didn’t need my help

So I stopped offering
and I watched
and watched
watched
watched
watched

Then he was gone
and I was left with change
but no one to offer it to.

Someone to watch over me.

Be careful who you call
The President is listening

It does not matter
I have nothing to hide

Be Careful who you talk to
The President is listening

It is ok in the name of security
and I have nothing to hide

Be careful what you talk about
The President is listening

If you don't say anything wrong
you have nothing to hide

Be careful what you do
The President is watching

Isn't that worth it if
it keeps us free
it keeps our way of life intact
it keeps us from being ruled by a dictator
one who can do
anything he wants
outside the law
violating our rights

Be careful...

Holiday Cheer

I've always thought that there should be
A change in personality
At that time of year when the holidays come 'round.

There is a change that I observe
In parking lots as people swerve
Around each other to get a spot they've found

They swear, they scream they go insane
In cars with kids they yell out names
names that'd make a life-long sailor blush

their faces red, they pound the wheel
with two arms flailing and fist of steel
shopping in a frantic blur and rush

Then done they speed out in the night
causing other drivers to pause with fright
going home to dinner with family and friends

They all sit down and raise a glass
asking peace and harmony to last
and for beg prosperity that never ends

please bless these folks who have no clue
or think a smidge of what they do
and take your shopping trips defensively

For they know not that when they bluster
it's all the self control we can muster
not to laugh so hard at them we can not see.

Much 1

We spend too much thought
on the man standing in the dust
planting the IED by the roadside
on the way to the airport
Not enoughon the masses
who don't get along
so long fused together
by terror
now set free
to hate each other

Left SUV

Not enought thought
given by the left-wing owner
of a large SUV
covered with stickers
irate and complaining
about war for oil

Oh Brother

If I am not my brother's keeper
Then who will do it?
Who will cry with him?
Who will listen to him?
Who will laugh with him?
Who will help him to shoulder his burdens?
Who will help him feel better?
Who?
Not I
I don't have the time
and won't until it is too late.

Shortage

If it is as they've shown us
product shortages due to disaster
lead to record profits
then
we must assume
that depriving
food from the hungry
shelter from the homeless
jobs from the unemployed
medicine from the sick
will lead them all to peace and abundance

Much 2

Too much time is spent
on fluff
on nothing
we sit here
seemingly secure
in our houses big
in our houses small
our borders are pourous
our president misleads
our congress does nothing
while the very freedom
our men
our women
die to impose
upon far away sand
is taken from us
bit
by
bit

Freedom Rings

So I think that it's terrific
Spreading freedom 'round this year
That we can all help those who are oppressed
and deliver them from fear

But the thought that really bugs me
The one that makes my cortex sear
Is that while our folks keep dying there
Who's to free us over here?
